Welcome to Unearthing the Wild Soul.

Here we seek the depths, exploring the wild terrain of soul through the alchemy of creativity and personal transformation.

We live in a world that insists on our constant attention, presenting an endless stream of crises that leave us feeling overextended and hopelessly ill-equipped to respond to the demands of contemporary life. Keeping up in a world that never stops moving, never pauses to catch its breath, compels us to suppress the quiet voices of our inner longings that whisper, there’s something more to life than this.

Here, we listen and linger, turning our attention inward. Seeking out those treasures we can recover from the ashes of our past. We unearth what has been overlooked, forgotten, brushed past, and discarded. We rediscover lost parts of ourselves, buried long ago. And in these parts, we find the riches we need to reclaim.

This space is an invitation to welcome the light and the shadow, to transform the raw materials of our experiences into beauty. Though we all hear the siren call to live on the surface of life, meaning is forged in the depths.

Let us journey together.

Why Unearthing the Wild Soul?

As a psychotherapist, writer, and visual artist, I am fascinated by the idea of the archaeology of the Self—the process of sifting through our past, excavating what was once hidden, and bringing our personal artifacts into the light, where we can see them with new eyes.

This work of self-reclamation reflects my belief that healing painful experiences from the past isn’t about moving on and trying to forget, it’s about integrating these experiences, finding the wisdom and insights that allow us to create a deeper, richer, fuller understanding of ourselves.

In other words, the archaeology of the Self is the rediscovery of our true self—who we really are, beyond anything that has happened to us.

What you’ll discover here.

✒︎ Essays exploring personal transformation, creativity, and soul work through a depth psychological lens.

✒︎ Reflections weaving together myth and metaphor … alongside explorations of cycles of endings and rebirth.

✒︎ Artwork deciphering the language of images, with occasional glimpses into the images that arise through my own creative process.

✒︎ Invitations to embark on your own archaeology of the Self with guided exercises and prompts to help you explore your own depths and hear the callings of your soul.

This is not a space for quick fixes and surface-level self-improvement.

It is a space for those who are willing to sit with unanswered questions and embrace the mystery. It is for those who yearn to experience alchemy—transforming the past into wisdom, pain into meaning, ashes into fertile ground for self-discovery.

About me

I’m Angela Amias: therapist, artist, and writer with a lifelong fascination with how we understand our lives—and ourselves—through creative, meaning-making practices.

I’m the founder of Alchemy of Love and the Institute for Trauma-Informed Relationships. And I’m the author of Ask Angela: a relationship advice column for love after trauma.

As an expert on relationships and trauma, I’ve been featured in numerous publications, including Today, Oprah, Cosmopolitan, The Independent, Well + Good, and Forbes. As an artist, my work has been exhibited in galleries around the US and has appeared in many publications.

Every aspect of my work reflects my desire to hold space for the beautiful complexities of the human experience and honor the messy nature of being human. It is when we learn how to welcome all aspects of ourselves—the light and the shadow—that we discover the past to creating a life of beauty and meaning.

Consider this your invitation.

If you’re longing to explore your inner landscape, my hope is that what you encounter here will awaken and nourish the stirrings of your soul.

I invite you to read, reflect, and—if you feel inspired—share your own thoughts in the comments. Transformation happens in connection as well as in solitude.

If these words speak to you, you belong here. Welcome to Unearthing the Wild Soul.

Xo,

Angela
